Crashing on Start Up

Fri 21. Apr 2017, 10:19

Recently I've needed to start using Articy again. Being a month or so since I last used it. Now it doesn't launch anymore. I've tried before the Creator Update on Windows 10 and got the same error. I've tried updating, uninstalling and reinstalling all end up with the same issue. The application starts up with its splash screen loading all modules. Then when it disappears, up pops Articy:Draft has stopped working. No additional info.

Here are the last couple of lines from the Log:
Code: Select all
2017-04-21 03:12:01 D-MainThre [I]: Added provider 'ArticySVN'
2017-04-21 03:12:01 D-MainThre [I]: Added provider 'ScmSVN1.6'
2017-04-21 03:12:01 D-MainThre [I]: Loading provider assembly: C:\Program Files\articy draft 3\bin\TextFileSourceControlProvider.dll
2017-04-21 03:12:01 D-MainThre [T]: Assembly 'TextFileSourceControlProvider, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' loaded.
2017-04-21 03:12:01 D-MainThre [I]: Added provider 'ScmText'
2017-04-21 03:12:02 D-MainThre [T]: Loading Package: Reporting Manager & Plugins (Reporting)
2017-04-21 03:12:02 D-MainThre [W]:   Assembly: C:\Program Files\articy draft 3\bin\ReportingShared.dll already loaded into current domain, skipped

No errors. Now I'm unable to work on critical information for my game.

Thanks for proving the following windows crash info in the support ticket.

Code: Select all
Faulting application name: ArticyDraft.exe, version: 3.0.4.31304, time stamp: 0x58d00d7c
Faulting module name: d3d9.dll, version: 10.0.15063.0, time stamp: 0x631de416
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x000000000000fd0c
Faulting process id: 0x26c8
Faulting application start time: 0x01d2bb056ebd2bc0
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\articy draft 3\bin\ArticyDraft.exe
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\d3d9.dll
Report Id: 27063801-452f-44c6-9677-8e4df3051071
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

With d3d9.dll as source of the crash which is part of DirectX, I do not really have a good idea why this happens.

For all those of you that suffer the same problem uninstalling articy:draft 3 and re-installing the 32 bit version might help.

This can be done with version 3.0.7 and up by providing the command line switch -32 to the setup.

Code: Select all
Setup_ArticyDraft_Release_3.0.7.31424.exe -32

I hope that helps.
