Entity property sheet

Overview

The property sheet view is a page with properties of the selected object. Some properties can also be edited in other views (like the color or description text), others can be accessed solely through the property sheet.

The property sheet view lists all properties in a well-structured and tidy way. All the properties of one single articy:draft object are divided into several tabs:

"General" tab

This tab contains very basic properties that are shared by almost all object types.

Name, avatar image and reference strip

All objects have a name 1, which is displayed above all other properties in a colored rectangle.

The color of the area around the object name is determined by the object color and can be changed using the color picker in the master toolbar.

Most objects also have an avatar 2 image and reference strip 3. The avatar image is used on tiles and in other object's reference strips 4:

Description text

This text field 5 is used to describe the object, be it character description, location ideas or synopsis texts of story fragments. Feel free to use it for whatever purpose you want.

"Template" tab

Using the templates feature, you can assign custom properties to any kind of object in articy:draft. These properties will then be added to an object's sheet.

Use the template selector 6 to assign a template to the viewed object.

You can change the template later. Properties that appear in the new template, too, will then be preserved.

Depending on the property's data type you can set the value of a property 7 by entering text into the text field, selecting an entry from a drop-down list or using a special editor. In any case, use the reset button 8 to discard your value and revert the property back to the default value coming from the template.

"Reference" tab

Interconnection of objects is an important part of articy:draft. This tab provides an overview of the connections to other objects.
