Journeys
Journey: One path through the story flow
The concept of the presentation view revolves around so-called journeys. A journey is one path through your story network. So as you click your way through the story flow, you create a sequence of visited nodes (so-called "journey points", see below), and this sequence is the journey.Temporary journeys
When you start a new presentation, a temporary journey will be recorded for your current play-through. You will notice that the navigator automatically switches to the temporary tab 1. That's because the presentation you've just started is not yet saved in the project. It's a temporary journey 2 and remains "floating" until you decide to save 3 or delete 4 it. If you don't, it'll be lost after you close the project.
Save journey in your project
To save a journey for later use (for example to replay the exact same path in a design meeting) simply click the "Save" icon in the image above 3. In the popup dialogue, please specify a folder in your project for articy:draft to store the journey in.After you've done that, you can find the freshly stored journey in the selected folder of your project structure, see 5 below. You can start viewing it as a presentation by clicking the play button 6.

Journey settings
Please click here for details on how you can customize journeys and presentations.Journey Point: One step on your path / one slide
While you're recording a journey 7, you can see your progression through the story flow and the choices you make are being tracked. Each visited node is represented through a journey point 8 in the navigator, below the journey object 7. So what you experience as slides 9 in the presentation are actually visualizations of journey points.
Some journey points appear transparent 10. This is because they do not carry any content and the slide would be empty. For example, a connection only shows up in the presentation if it carries a label / connection comment. In any case, it will be added to the journey because it is visited, but it's never actually displayed and thus greyed out.
Types of actions on slides
As indicated by the right-aligned icons in the navigator (11 in the image above), there are different types of actions leading from one slide to the next. | Proceed to next node on the same flow level | |
| Submerge into node / emerge from node | |
| Instead of submerging and playing the inner structure of a node, skip it and proceed on the same level | |
| Make a story choice at a branching point | |
| The (current) end of the journey | |
Most of these actions can be performed through the navigation panel below the slide. At branching points, you can proceed to the next slide by selecting one of the choices in the multiple-choice menu.
