After traveling long and wide to a vast amount of conferences throughout the year, this winter we went back to the one place that feels most like home for us adventure and story loving geeks. This early November we were thrilled to head over to the British Library Knowledge Center in London attending Adventure X with our proudly acquired sponsor badge.

For those of you who have missed it, AdventureX is the UK’s only convention dedicated to narrative-driven gaming. Since 2011, AdventureX has been bringing together developers & gamers with a passion for interactive storytelling. One of the reasons we love attending is that the organization is improving year on year and the quality of talks keeps getting better and better. This year was the first time that the event required a paid admission with all tickets fully selling out within just 5 hours.

Over the two days, we had the chance to attend interesting talks on different topics from comedy in games to AAA writing tips and marketing advice to sharing technologies and knowledge on how to improve from past success to new impending sequels. But as much as we enjoyed sitting in and absorbing all this knowledge, we appreciated even more the chance to sit down and have a chat with the speakers, exhibitors and attendees. Gladly the expo isn’t one of those back-to-back talks type of events, we were quite grateful for the gaps in the itinerary that allowed for friendly chats and gave us time to interact with an open, diverse and supportive community of people who love games and stories.

We also had the chance to record our discussions with some of the speakers and if you follow our blog you can watch the full interviews with Dave Gilbert, Katharine Neil, Charles Cecil and Samantha Webb.

Last but not least, in between all the talks, chats and interviews we had loads of fun playing through the exhibited games .

If you also love narrative driven games, don’t miss out on next year’s AdventureX and make sure to drop by and say hi when you’re there. Looking forward to seeing everyone again in 2020.
